FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a water softener cost?

The price depends on the model, installation requirements and what is included. Brisamar will publish current prices against individual products rather than using an arbitrary blanket figure.

How much does a water softener cost to maintain?

Running costs vary with water use, hardness, settings, salt consumption and the particular model. Servicing requirements also vary by product.

How does a water softener work?

Most domestic ion-exchange softeners pass water through a resin that exchanges calcium and magnesium ions for sodium ions. The resin is periodically regenerated using salt.

Will a softener remove all contaminants?

No. A water softener is primarily for hardness reduction. Other water-quality problems require different treatment methods.

Do I need a water test?

For ordinary mains-water softener selection, a hardness measurement may be sufficient. For private supplies or unusual water-quality issues, more comprehensive testing may be appropriate.

Can you install a softener?

Yes. Brisamar provides local installation and servicing within its service area.

Do you sell salt and spare filters?

Yes. Selected salt, filters, spares, parts and test kits will be available through the online shop.

Do you work with boreholes and private water supplies?

Yes. Treatment is selected according to the source and water-quality results.

Are your products covered by a warranty?

Brisamar provides a standard 2-year warranty on applicable products. Annual Brisamar servicing can extend the warranty yearly where the individual warranty terms allow it.
